Europe has the perfect destinations for couples looking for exciting, romantic getaways. Although you can never go wrong with the ever-popular Santorini, Rome, and Paris, you might want to strongly consider taking the road less traveled to Ukraine.

Whether you’re looking for a place to declare your love or celebrate your honeymoon, you can always find different romantic places in Ukraine. And despite the ongoing war in the country, Ukraine and its exciting landscapes still offer the perfect spots for sunset weddings, lunch and dinner dates, and scenic road trips.

Planning and making the best itinerary for your escapade in Ukraine doesn’t have to be challenging. In fact, this article will show you why Ukraine is the perfect romantic alternative to the already crowded tourist destinations in Europe.

Tunnel of Love, Klevan

You can find the Tunnel of Love on the old railway tracks near the town of Klevan. This magical place features interwoven bushes and branches that form a near symmetrical arch. Legend says that your love will last forever if you share a kiss with your partner in the tunnel.

If you want to enjoy visiting the Tunnel of Love, it’s best to visit in the summer or spring when the greenery is inspiring and fresh. It’s still charming in the winter, though.

Lover’s Bridge, Kiev

Locals call it the “Lover’s Bridge” because it has seen lots of first dates, romantic rendezvous, and passionate weddings ever since it was built in 1910.

It has become a popular tradition for couples to put locks on the fence and pledge their eternal love for each other. However, the locks are regularly cleaned out to give space for new ones and prevent the bridge’s demolition.

In addition, poets come to write their poems in Lover’s Bridge, taking inspiration from the romantic scenery and the presence of happy couples.

Multimedia Fountain Roshen, Vinnytsia

The Multimedia Fountain Roshen is a popular dancing fountain built on the Southern Buh river in Vinnytsia. Furthermore, it is the largest floating fountain in Europe.

It features flowing power water streams accompanied by music, laser effects, lights, and video projections on a huge screen. So if you want to surprise your partner and share unforgettable memories with them, come and behold this amazing sight!

Vylkove

Locals also call Vylkove the “Ukrainian Venice.” This romantic city lies at the mouth of the Danube River, which isn’t far from Romania’s border. It’s also a part of the Danube Biosphere Reserve, where people can visit by boat through a net of river channels.

Yearly, Vylkove welcomes hundreds of tourists who explore this wonder of nature.

Valley of Daffodils, Khust

The valley is located in the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve, 2.5 miles away from the city of Khust. It’s a natural phenomenon you can only witness in May when the whole field of daffodils blooms.

Legend says that the field of daffodils appeared by accident after an angry count threw away a bunch of flowers gifted to his daughter by a poor man. By the next morning, a miracle happened — the whole valley was covered in white.

Italian Courtyard, Lviv

The Italian Courtyard is located in the Market Square (Lviv’s main square), and it’s one of the most visited attractions in Ukraine. It’s an architectural monument of the Renaissance period, exactly resembling the typical courtyards of Florence. Moreover, its history, narrow balconies, and tall white walls make it highly appealing for romantic dates, literary evenings, and jazz concerts.

The Carpathians

The Carpathians is probably the most popular tourist destination in Ukraine, especially in the winter. But this mountain range is more eye-catching in the spring and summer because its natural setting sets the mood for romance. You can also visit Mikulich, Vorokhta, Morshyn, Truskavets, Kolomyia, Kosov, and Cheremosh.

You can also enjoy forest picnics and hire a photographer to do photoshoots in the mountain’s eye-catching landscapes while wearing the national outfit.

In autumn, the scenery has a completely different shade, possibly producing bright and colorful pictures. Also, you can enjoy a romantic horseback ride and a date in the local tava.

You can even enjoy skiing during your visit in the winter season at numerous ski resorts, including Dragobrat, Slavske, Yaremche, and Bukovel.

Chernivtsi University Botanical Garden, Chernivtsi

The Chernivtsi University Botanical Garden features exhibitions of plants in the local greenhouse, landscape compositions, and beautiful flowers and trees, making it the best choice for morning walks.

You can also marvel at the ancient but picturesque buildings, a common site for romantic photo shoots and weddings.

Zamkova Hora (Castle Hill), Kiev

Zamkova Hora is one of the most romantic destinations in Kiev. It’s where the castle of Lithuanian Prince Vladimir Olgerdovich once stood, hence the name.

Zamkova Hora allows couples to enjoy the scenery over the historical Podil district and the Dnipro river. However, you’ll have to climb a metal staircase with 120 steps to reach the hilltop.

Navodnitsky Park, Kiev

Navodnitsky Park was built in 1982 beside the Dnipro river, boasting a monument of a boat carrying Kiev’s founders standing at the center of the park.

Today, the park is always full of newlyweds who want to take memorable photos after their wedding. Legend says that if the newlyweds turn their backs to the boat and throw the bouquet together, they’ll have a peaceful and happy marriage if the bouquet gets into the boat.

Hryshko National Botanical Garden, Kiev

Most people might believe that spending their lunchtime in a spacious botanical garden with lots of eye-catching flowers and trees isn’t good. But that’s not the case! Despite this infamous misconception, the Hryshko National Botanical Garden attracts hundreds of tourists throughout the year.

If you want to enjoy your walk, it’s best to visit early May when the magnolias bloom.

Ukraine is a picturesque country. You might realize that spending your romantic getaway or honeymoon in the country might be better than spending your time, energy, and money on other European countries.

You’ll also find other popular destinations in Ukraine, like Kharkiv, Odessa, Ternopil, Kamyanets-Podilsky, and Ivano-Frankivsk. So explore the country, and travel around to get your chance to meet an Odessa woman.
