We’ve all heard about the importance of date nights. Some even recommend scheduling them into our calendars to keep relationships kicking and swinging. And that’s not without reason. Since life can get hectic and crazy, date nights provide much-needed relief and romance.

However, some need help penciling date nights into their schedules. Morning larks, for example, are out of commission at night.

What if I told you there’s an earlier alternative?

Say hello to morning dates!

Why Give It a Try?

An early morning date (or dawn date) may not sound as sexy as date nights. But they can be just as fun. Imagine starting your day on a high and romantic note. Any couple can use that as they go about their daily tasks.

Not only is a morning date a tone-setter, but it’s also refreshing. Swapping nights and drinks for sunshine and coffee is a nice change of pace and setting. The switch brings excitement, keeping relationships from becoming stale.

Lastly, a morning date brings a different calmness. In a piece by The Knot, psychologist and relationship expert Tiffany McGee compares it to reading a book with “soft morning light” rather than through a lamp’s glare at midnight. There is a difference.

Early to Bed, Early to Romance | The Benefits of Morning Dates

Whether you’re a night owl or an early riser, dawn dating can be beneficial. Here are some of the upsides of daytime romance:

#1: Lesser costs

Let’s face it: everything’s getting expensive. Dinner and drinks have gotten pricier, and movie dates aren’t as budget-friendly as they used to be. Inflation sucks all around.

While there are affordable date ideas, having them in the morning costs significantly less. Think about it: a stroll in your neighborhood park or a cup of joe from your favorite cafe are lighter options for your wallets.

#2: Balanced social life

Let’s say you have a packed day-to-day agenda. As much as you want to squeeze a date night in, your schedule says no. Having a date in the morning is a much more feasible solution since it’s much easier to slide it into your plans.

#3: More time for rest

As a result of a balanced social life, dates in the morning give you more time for relaxation. There’s no need to exert extra energy for post-work date nights when you can have one earlier. So go ahead and put your feet on your couch — you deserve it.

Morning Date Ideas

Take some cues from these tried and true recommendations:

#1: Coffee run

Many people start their day with a cup of coffee. Get your dose of caffeine by grabbing one at a cafe or coffee stall. The date can go fast or slow, depending on your preference.

#2: Breakfast

Make the most important meal of the day even better by having it together. The vibe is up to you: it can be as casual or quirky as you want.

#3: Catching the sunrise

Don’t get me wrong: sunsets are cool! But here’s a counterpoint: sunrises are just as awesome. Its beauty is worth waking up early for. So set your alarms and secure a good spot.

Are you convinced? Go ahead and give morning dates a go! Your days will undoubtedly be brighter.
