Meet People Twice | A Relationship Theory, Explained
With the numerous people we bump into daily, it’s no surprise that we can’t pluck out supposed-to-be-familiar faces.
We often don’t give much thought to the people we come across. Who has the time to dilly-dally on busy days, right? We don’t even have time to stop and smell the roses.
However, some encounters feel like they are meant to happen twice.
This relationship theory has made some noise online, especially on TikTok. Let’s learn how it works.
Introducing the “Meet People Twice” Theory
Have you ever met somebody twice and thought your second encounter wasn’t a coincidence? Say hello to the “meet people twice” theory.
The theory’s premise is similar to the invisible string theory. Both revolve around the notion that fate is in the driver’s seat.
If somebody’s meant to be in your life, you’ll encounter them more than once. This time, they won’t just be a passing character. It’s as if the universe was the author of your love story, making you cross paths again long after you went your separate ways.
How Does This Theory Work?
This relationship theory may seem like a scene straight out of a movie. Have you watched Serendipity (2001)?
The protagonists (played by John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale) met in their 20s. But unfortunately, they had to part ways after their first encounter. They searched for each other for ten years. One day, fate wanted them together, and they ended up in the same place they went together years ago.
Typical rom-com, right? However, it isn’t as unrealistic as some believe.
This romantic relationship theory can manifest in two scenarios.
First, there’s the classic chance encounter. You and this person have a magical moment together in the most random setting and timing. Unfortunately, your circumstances stopped things from progressing. Life happens. And as time goes by, that encounter is all but forgotten.
But at the most unexpected moment, you bump into each other again. This time, your circumstances aren’t against you. Sparks fly as you meet each other’s gazes. It’s as if the moment was tailor-made for you two.
Second, there’s the reconnection. Both of you already gave dating a go but failed. Your separation gave you space for your character development.
After much time, fate suddenly takes the wheel and makes your paths cross again. This time, you encounter each other as better versions of yourselves. With your undeniable connection, you decided to give things another shot, and you haven’t looked back since.
All Will Be Alright In Time
As you already know, this theory relies on timing. Your first encounters may not have led to something fruitful, but they’re the jumping point for future run-ins.
If you think that person got away, there’s a chance you’ll meet each other again. However, don’t passively wait for the second encounter.
Use that separation to better yourself. Change will do you good in the long run. Growth may finally kick things into high gear.
This relationship theory doesn’t have scientific claims backing it. But there’s no shame in embracing bits of it. Keep your heart open to possibilities — you’ll never know when they’ll arrive.
